Go Joe!

NYM 0, OAK 5

Joe Blanton had a perfect game coming into the fifth inning. He then had a one hitter coming into the eighth. In a bases loaded situation in the bottom of the eighth with one out Huston Street came in and tossed a wet blanket on the Mets rally by inducing a DP.

He then finished the game allowing only one hit to Carlos Beltran in the ninth to notch his fourth big league save.

And thus, Apu's favorite squadron, the Ny-Mets were defeated.

The day started in confusion when it was reported by the Sac Bee that Keith Ginter was called up from AAA. The most confusing part was that the callup wasn't feautred prominently in the article (registration required), it was buried in the middle of the article and wasn't prominent in any way.

I heard rumors that Ginter was called up to start tongiht, but what really surprised me was he was starting at 3B and Chavez was DHing. It turns out that Chavez has a sore shoulder and is resting from the defense for a few days. Perhaps it's the sore shoulder that affected his offence today. He was an 0-fer.

I honestly believe that Ginter is being shopped. There's a plethora of second basemen on the A's and all are legit major leaguers. I think he was at third tonight to display his defensive "versatility." A's fandom is itching for a trade, but that's because we feel one coming. Let's see what Jedi Mind trick Beane will pull this time.
