Woah...
SD 1, OAK 13
Wow, when it rains, it pours. Yeah the Pads committed some errors but when the score is like that, you can't blame it on two errors.
As usual, Eric Byrnes has been hitting like a fiend this spring:
The next batter, Eric Byrnes, blasted a two-run homer off Padres farmhand Roger Deago, and the rout was on. Marco Scutaro made it 10-1 in the bottom of the seventh with a two-run homer, Scutaro's first round-tripper of the spring.I also glad that Scoot is getting his ABs. It seems that he is the odd man out when it comes to the 2B starting job with Ellis tearing it up and Ginter coming with a whole lot of hype.
I also thought that Daric Barton's first big league camp was over whe he had his bout of appendecitis, I guess I was wrong, fortunately:
The A's increased their advantage to 13-1 in the bottom of the eighth when Daric Barton singled in a run, Scutaro singled in one to give him three RBIs for the game, and Mark Ellis drove in another with a sacrifice fly. Also Bobby Kielty is still out of the lineup nursing a bum calf. I don't think he was any good last year because he never had a chance to establish his routine with Macha letting "the players write the lineups." He needs regular ABs and a possible platoon in Oakland isn't going to do it for him. I wish he could be sent down to AAA so he can be an everyday starter, get back on track then get called back up. He's not going to get any better unless he gets his regular hacks.
