Still in second

OAK 6, TEX 4

I have learned today that Joe Kennedy's mugshot on MLB.com makes him look like Pvt. Pyle from Full Metal Jacket. Here's some photographic evidence:

Kenny Rogers is no longer the A's kryptonite. But then and again the game wasn't at the Coliseum.

Keith Ginter is being shopped. Why else would he start at third base today? I mean, besides giving us A's fans a heart attack or ammo for Ken Macha haterism. Problem is, the way he's been playing lately and his un-clutchness it seems that the A's will have trouble unloading him.

As a result of the A's showcasing Ginter's defensive versatility, Chavez was the DH. Ironically he didn't really do what he was designated to do, hit. He was 0 for 5 with three strikeouts, definitely not a good day at the plate. He didn't even draw walks. It seems that Chavez is a bit vulnerable to outside pitches, this is a problem I think many A's fans have seen before.

I have to tip my hat to Joe Blanton. I seriously though he was going to get lit up, but he buckled down and was effective for the rest of his outing. Also clutch hits by Swisher, Ellis and...Payton. I didn't expect Payton would be this good, color me surprised.

Romeo and Juliet opens today. I just came home from the final dress rehearsal. I hate tech week.
