The Battle for Second Place: DAY 1

TEX 0, OAK 6

Let's hope this is just a sign of things to come. The A's will to their second half thing and surge, hopefully making the Wild Card and AL West exciting for us A's fans and the Rangers will do their second half thing and fade.

Before I go any further, I'm pretty sure I'm getting hits from France so let me take this opportunity to say, Happy Bastille Day.

I was in rehearsal tonight, what else is new, and during a break I flipped out my cell phone and got on to ESPN.com and checked the score, it said:

BOT 6R H E
TEX 0 0 1
OAK 6 6 0

I thought to myself, Holy crap! Rich Harden is on the verge of a...can't say it unless I want to jinx it.

Rich Harden allowed his first baserunner in the eighth inning. A perfect game was so close and yet, so far away. I applaud your efforts, Rich, and you'll get one someday, you're only 24.

I'm less than one year younger than him and I'm still in school, stuck in community theatre purgatory. It's time like these where I do feel a bit small in this world.
