E-S-P-N

I don't know why ESPN does the spelling bee. It's not a sport, but then, neither is poker.

I'm jumping into the spelling bee coverage, too.

"Appoggiatura" was music to 13-year-old Anurag Kashyap's ears. Spelling the word that means melodic tone correctly, he clinched the 2005 national spelling bee championship.
Actually "appoggiatura" is not just a melodic tone, it's an unprepared upper neighbor tone. Or an unprepared suspension. But then I'm very surprised that the winning word in the spelling bee is a musical term this year. It's a good word to use in a spelling bee, it's a little obscure outside of the musical word and it's hard to spell. I can't even spell it correctly, I always miss a "g." Oh yeah it's not really a "melodic tone" it's an un-harmonic tone.

Yeah, I'm a lifer in music.
