A sigh of relief
The A's win their first game of the season.
OAK 9, BAL 0
Well, all of us A's fans had to wait till today for the first runs scored by the A's in this current campaign and boy did they score some runs. Things just worked out really well for the A's, Ginter added some pop to the lineup as promised, Kirk Saarloos pitches one hitter into the seventh, Street has made his first big league appearance and has yet to allow an earned run and of course the A's won.
However, Bobby Crosby has been placed on the 15 day DL for a stress fracture in his ribs. It's good and bad at the same time. It's bad because well, he's on the DL but it's also good because it wasn't a back problem, back problems can be tricky and hard to recover from fully.
I'm gald about the depth we have in the infield with Scoot, Ginter and Ellis. It realy seems that Scutaro is really taking advantage of the chance of staying on the big league roster since he was slated to be sent down to AAA. He's most definitely learned to be a more patient hitter in winter ball this year, he's already at 1/8 of his previous year's walk total (16, and bear in mind he was an everyday player last season). He's so trying to make a good impression on Billy Beane. It's a little bit sad that he's taking advantage of Crosby's injury to get playing time, but that's what he did last year with Ellis.
Oh yeah, the A's are back in first place, granted, it's a three-way tie for first, but it's always good to be in first place.
